In a stable human population, the age structure diagram looks like a pyramid with a narrower base. The narrower base depicts that the birth rate is low. A stable human population also has a high number of older individuals. A greater number of older people in a population shows that quality of life is high in that area/country and the population has access to nutritional diet, medical care, and healthcare services. These features of the age pyramid in a stable population indicate a developed country. Age pyramids of underdeveloped countries have a wider base (high birth rate) and narrow tip.
