Cellulose and starch are both polysaccharides. Polysaccharides are polymers of monosaccharides sometimes referred to as complex carbohydrates because of their length. Polysaccharides may function in energy storage or as structural components of organisms. Pictured is cellulose, the most abundant carbohydrate.
