Cytoskeleton are made of three main filaments including actin filaments, microtubules and microfilaments. Microfilaments are flexible double strands of the protein actin that are of different proteins which give mechanical support. Important functions include:They lead the intracellular movement of organelles and molecules .They stabilize mechanically the plasma membrane.
Microtubules are rigid hollow cylinders of the proteins α- & β-tubulin . They are responsible for the position and stability of ER and Golgi-Apparatus . They help to divide & move chromosomes during mitosis and also organize the growth of the cell wall . Actin filaments are robe like fibres of different proteins which give mechanical support.
