Starch and ATP store energy in their chemical bonds. This energy is released and supplied to the body as soon as these bonds are broken.
Explanation:
Starch and ATP both are bio-molecules. The atoms in these molecules are joined with each other with the help of chemical bonds. When these bonds are broken energy is produced and supplied to the body. Body uses this energy to perform its daily metabolic activities.
Starch which is a polymer of glucose which is first broken down into a disaccharide named as maltose in our mouth with the help of an enzyme known as salivary amylase. This maltose is then further broken down into glucose in our intestine with the help of pancreatic amylase. This glucose is then absorbed in the intestine from where it enters into our blood stream with the help of which this glucose is then supplied to each tissue/cell of our body through circulation. Within the cells, this glucose is then oxidized to produce ATP and the process is known as cellular respiration. When ATP is broken down into ADP & inorganic phosphorus (Pi) energy is released.
