Before cell division, replication of genes and chromosome occurs. Replication is a process in which two small identical copies are formed. When meiosis occurs, these copies are distributed between daughter cells. In meiosis l, the daughter cells which are formed are diploid i. e. double number of chromosomes and in meiosis ll, these two daughter cells are again divided and produce four daughter cells. Each having half number of chromosome.
