Pituitary gland is a small size pea like structure located at near the base of the brain , it is also called as master gland because it produces many hormones.
The pituitary gland hormones affect metabolism , reproduction, growth and sexual development. The gland consist 2 lobes which release different different hormones.
(1) Anterior lobe which release 6 hormones:
1)Growth hormone 2) Prolactin 3)Thyroid stimulating hormone 4)Follicle stimulating hormone 5) Adrenocorticortopic hormone 6) Luteinizing hormone
(2) Posterior lobe which release 2 hormones:
1) Oxytocin 2) Antidiuretic hormone.
