Durante las últimas décadas, muchas empresas alrededor del mundo han tenido que adaptar sus operaciones a una situación actual de mayor compromiso con el medio ambiente y la sociedad en su conjunto.La búsqueda de un beneficio económico ha tenido que ceder lugar al desarrollo de nuevos objetivos en el campo de la responsabilidad social, del cuidado del medio ambiente y la preservación de los recursos naturales, pasa desdeun enfoque estratégico netamente económico a uno cada vez más social y ambiental, en un alto grado de compromiso con la sostenibilidad y con los diferentes grupos de interés. En la primera parte de esta investigación se revisa la literatura relacionada con la Responsabilidad Social Empresarial (RSA)que proporcionaun importante énfasis a las dimensiones que la conforman y a aquellas líneas estratégicas que garantizan el óptimo proceso de su implementación a nivel organizacional. Posteriormente se mencionan los pasos que se deben seguir para que la implementación de una correcta gestión ambiental, tanto interna como externa, genere notables beneficios a las organizaciones, y, finalmente sedestaca la importancia de las relaciones entre los diferentes grupos de interés.
