For each of the reactions below: 4. Determine which chemical species is being oxidized (reductant) and which is getting reduced (oxidant) 5. Write balanced half-reactions, one for the reduction process and one for the oxidation process 6. Combine the two half reactions by multiplying each times a coefficient. The overall goal is that the number of moles of electrons remains constant (it is equal on both sides).
