the main reasons for world war ii were the expansionist politics of some nations, as well as the dissatisfaction of how the political and economic influence in the world is redistributed.
some nations like germany, italy, and japan, had expansionist politics. they started to militarize and each with their own primary reason started to wage wars. the germans started with conquering the traditional germanic territories, italy wanted to resurrect the roman empire, while japan started attacking the natural resources rich countries. that prompted a response from the other powerful countries like uk, france, ussr, and little later the usa too, thus a global war emerged.
the war started after the germans didn't stopped at taking over part of the czech territory, and they attacked and invaded poland. that meant that they broke the peace agreement from the world war ii, and understandably it was seen as a sign of aggression, thus the british and the french were quick to declare war to germany in order to stop it.
