In part b of my question, i was asked calculate the number of atoms in 0.615 mol of 13c (mass number of this carbon is 13).
i received the correct answer of 3.70e23 atoms. however, i do not know how to do part c of my question, which asks "based on your answer in part b, how many electrons are in this amount of 13c"?
similarly, part d asks "how many neutrons are in this amount of 13c"?
you so much in advance!

0.615 moles of ¹³C atoms has 2.59 ×10²⁴ neutrons and 2.22 ×10²⁴ electrons.
Further ExplanationFrom the problem, there are
¹³C atoms. To determine how many electrons are in this much carbon-13 atoms, it is important to know how many electrons there are in one carbon-13 atom.
Carbon-13 is an isotope of the carbon atom.
An isotope is like a version of an atom that has a different number of neutrons. The mass number gives information about the number of neutrons an atom has. It is the total number of protons and neutrons that are found in the nucleus of an atom.In this case, the nucleus of the carbon-13 atom has a total of 13 subatomic particles in it.
Determining the Number of Neutrons in an AtomTo determine how many of the particles in the nucleus are neutrons, the atomic number is of the atom is used.
Atomic number is the number that gives the atom its identity and can be found in the periodic table. It gives the number of protons in an atom.In the most simple periodic table of elements, the atomic number is usually the smaller number written in the tile for each element. The larger number is the mass number. It can be observed that the atomic number of the elements are increasing by one unit as you go from left to right. The difference between the larger mass number and the smaller atomic number is the number of neutrons:
Number of Neutrons = Mass Number - Atomic Number
The atomic number of carbon is 6, therefore its number of neutrons can be determined using the equation:
Number of Neutrons = 13 - 6
Number of Neutrons = 7
Determining the Number of Electrons in an AtomThe number of electrons in a neutral atom is equal to the number of protons. Since the number of protons is equal to an atom’s atomic number, then the number of electrons is:
Number of electrons = Number of protons = Atomic Number
Since carbon has an atomic number of 6, then it has 6 protons and 6 electrons.
So far, it has been determined that the carbon-13 atom has 7 neutrons and 6 electrons.
Determining the Number of Neutrons and Electrons in the SampleTo get the total number of neutrons and electrons in a 0.615 mol sample use the solution below:
![total \ no. \ of \ electrons \ = 3.70 \times 10^{23} \ ^{13}C \ atoms \times \frac{6 \ electrons}{1 \ atom}\\\\\boxed {\boxed {total \ no. \ of \ electrons \ = 2.22 \times 10^{24} \ electrons}}](/tpl/images/0201/2762/91a0a.png)
