The situation can be described through this psalm, in verse 2, mentioned above. Wher men we find ourselves in a difficult situation where we are surrounded by enemies and people who want to do us harm. After that, God brings deliverance.
Need is just what we need in the face of a difficult situation. The psalmist shows that he really needs the deliverance from God, when, for example, he mentions that in times of trouble, God would hide him in his pavilion. His need is also shown when he cries to God to listen and respond, as in verse 7.
