answer: You remember Aesop, right? He's the Greek slave who is credited with creating a whole bunch of fables, stories that usually contain animal characters and portray particular lessons or moral teachings. Well, Kipling took a page out of Aesop's playbook when writing "Rikki-Tikki-Tavi" because the tone is totally fabulist.
The tone of the story also leads to the theme of the story, which wasthat in order to survive you must kill. Rikki Tikki had to find ways to kill thecobras and the eggs so that he himself can survive. He also had to kill sothat Teddy’s family can be safe as well. He did not let Nagaina run away, butpursued and killed her and all her eggs so that no trouble would come. Onthe other hand, the cobras needed to kill Rikki and the humans so that theycan survive themselves. In the passage, Nag has spoken that by killing thepeople, they will gain “everything” and their children will have “room andquiet.”
