Foreword
When I was asked to introduce Harvey Johnson’s book about the history of Caldwell, Colorado, I was honored. Caldwell is an enchanting town nestled high on a ridge that overlooks the Rock River. The river curves through the heart of Deer Valley and supports the wildlife and plant life that thrive there. Harvey’s book paints a picture of the history of this small town, but it also captures a time in my life that is dear to my heart. As a child, I spent my summers fishing, horseback riding, hiking, and stargazing in Caldwell. It sounds too good to be true, but it wasn’t. It was pure joy—joy that came from the people, the mountains, the sounds of the river, and the rich history of a tiny town with a big past.
What connection does the writer make to the book’s content?
A) The writer has fond memories of visiting the town as a child.
B) The writer went fishing with Harvey Johnson.
C) The writer was born in Caldwell, Colorado.
D) The writer has painted pictures of the town, which are included in the book.
