Making a promise is a commitment that you will keep your word therefore, it could reinforce trust within the connections you have with the people you care for. Keeping promises is important because it helps build better relationships with the people around you. When you keep a promise it can show that you are a reliable and trustworthy person. If you maintain a promise it can strengthen the mutual trust between you and the other person. For example, your Mom asks you to go to the store and you promise her that you will go. You manage to keep your promise and now she has a little more trust in you than she did before. This conveys that maintaining a promise is a good way to show someone how dependable you really are.
