The sonnet consists of fourteen lines. In the first one, the author formulates a question in a conversational way like she is talking to herself. She challenges herself to enumerate and explain the reasons why she loves him.

Therefore, Elizabeth answers by expressing and describing the ways she feels this intense love for her husband.
