1. Ponyboy always felt like Darry didn’t seem to care for him and didn’t feel like he had a good relationship with him, so Darry hitting him was basically the last straw for Ponyboy. He believed Darry thought of him as a nuisance. In that justification, Ponyboy felt he was fair.

2. Ponyboy feels that Darry doesn’t understand him and is too hard on him

3. Ponyboy considers him cold hearted because Darry pushes him away and wants him to do his own thing. (Sorry if this one is worded a bit weird)

4. He doesn’t realize that Darry is only pushing him away to succeed on his own is his way of trying to express his concern and love for Ponyboy. After losing his parents, Darry is fearful that Ponyboy will lose another thing that truly matters to him (like his parents)
