Isabella met Javier when she was five and he was seven. Even at such a young age, Isabella knew that their meeting was fate and that someday they would marry. Blinded by her love for Javier, Isabella never thought about a future without him. For fifteen years, Isabella kept her love for Javier a secret. When war broke out in the eastern part of the country, Javier, like many other young men, decided to go off and fight. On the eve of his departure, Javier declared his love to Isabella and asked her to marry him. Overjoyed, she quickly agreed and demanded that they marry that very same d ay. Javier, however wanted to wait until he returned from the war. Six months passed without a word from Javier, and Isabella was consumed with worry. Then, on the anniversary of the day they first met, Isabella received word that Javier was killed in battle. Isabella was inconsolable and vowed to never marry.
