Pathos is a rhetorical device used when writing an argument. Pathos attempts to appeal to the readers emotions by tugging at their heartstrings (think SPCA commercial), making them feel happy, scared, etc. You are going to use pathos to write an argument for the following prompt: Your parents are going out of town for the weekend for their anniversary. In the past they have left you home alone, but you have not followed their rules. They now want you to stay with your very strict grandma while they are gone. Your job is to convince them to let you stay home alone.
