Read the excerpt from the common sense of bicycling: bicycling for ladies. the beginner usually exerts too much pressure on the pedals, and has to correct the falling tendency of the machine. this is very hard work, and stiff arms and shoulders and blistered hands may be often thus accounted for; they are the result of badly balanced pedaling. to be able to sit comfortably at work, and to feel that it is not so hard after all, is a great advance. read the excerpt from "how to ride" there are many things that go to make the graceful rider. you must give each detail attention or you will fail. one incorrect move or poise of any part of the body will be noticed as eccentricity. an erect position, steady on the saddle, but when all is done, the crowning grace is that of apparent ease. what would most add to the completeness of these excerpt? 1. an explanation of why sitting correctly is so important 2. an explanation of how to achieve the correct sitting position 3. an explanation of how to pedal while sitting correctly 4. an explanation of why sitting in the correct position is elegant

3. an explanation of how to pedal while sitting correctly
Both of the excerpts talk about how you must sit correctly and pedaling should look easy. The first passage says, "The beginner usually exerts too much pressure on the pedals" and talks about how you must "be able to sit comfortably at work, and to feel that it is not so hard after all". The work is pedaling. The second passage describes how you must sit at "an erect position, steady on the saddle." It must have the look "of apparent ease." Both excerpts show that sitting and pedaling correctly is the difficult aspect of riding a bike, but neither of the passages say how to do it.
