Read the excerpt from "the day the gulls went crazy." an experiment seemed the best way to answer this question. larry rigged up a disguise from spare items around the house. instead of his usual yellow stocking cap, he wore a wide-brimmed straw hat. he changed into baggy clothing that he had never worn before. and to top off the disguise, he added a green and orange halloween mask left behind from some party. in this outfit, larry walked out of the house, being careful to change his walk by pretending to limp. to his amazement, the colony stayed perfectly calm. which sentence describes a cause-and-effect relationship in the text? larry walks out of the house, and he pretends to limp. larry decides to change his yellow stocking cap and wears a wide-brimmed hat instead. larry looks for ways to disguise himself and finds a straw hat and baggy clothing.. larry's disguises himself with a mask, and the gulls remain calm.

     The excerpt above shows an example of immediacy because in the excerpt above it shows who is giving the orders, and who is going to receive them. The mother or "Momma" issued orders with a sense of immediacy and that means, "Bringing one into direct and instant involvement with something." (Dictionary.com) Immediacy is important in story's because it amplifies the needs of someone or something. It also makes scenarios more dramatic and more sincere!
