Use RACES to respond to the following question.
Look back at page 11 where Nag and Nagaina are described for the first time. Find words or phrases on
those pages that make the snakes seem evil.
● Discuss the words Kipling (the author) uses to make the snakes seem evil. How do the words
make the snakes seem evil? Is Kipling being fair in describing them that way, or are the snakes
just doing what snakes naturally do?
● How does Kipling show that the snakes aren’t completely evil?
