I would write it as formal as possible to attract the attention of who your writing for. A cover letter would only need to be two paragraphs long. It go somthing like... Dear whoever, I am interested in your business, blah blah blah, heres how i think I can help you, Blah Blah Blah =, thank you for your time. Sincerely, John Doe
