The answer is: A) The husband, wife, and sometimes children had to work.
During the Victorian period, between 1837 and 1901, the industrial revolution improved the quality of living of workers, although for the poor and unemployed lack of food aggravated. As a result, large number of families were forced to make their children get jobs -mostly under underpaid and under unhealthy conditions- especially when one of the parents died. Women were also given the chance to work in factories and earn their own money to share financial responsibilities with men.
