Write a poem using an extended metaphor to describe one of these topics:
a natural disaster, such as a hurricane or wildfire
a feature of cities--or of your city in particular
age (growing older)
one of the four seasons
waiting for something to happen
a household chore
an act or war or battlefield
Make sure that multiple lines in the poem add to or "extend" the comparison. (Feel free to personify the subject of your poem, if you prefer. Just make sure that elements of the comparison carry throughout the poem.)
