The Islamic reform movements are trying to make the religion less strict in its interpretation of the Qur'an, and to bring it closer to the modern world, instead of being stuck with principles and morals from the sixth century that are far outdated. Even though they do not call for equal rights between man and women, which is one of the biggest concern in the Islamic world, it is still a step forward towards opening towards the world, and integration with other cultures and religions, instead of creating communities that are closed and create their own parallel isolated worlds.
