I think that Emerson would consider Beowulf a hero. My reasoning behind this choice is that self trust is the essence of heroism. It speaks the truth, and it is just , generous, hospitable, temperate, scornful of small calculations, and scornful of being scorned. One quality Emerson noted was a soldier of war attitude.
