What's the correct order? 1. The baby's heartbeat can now be heard through a Doppler. Finger and toes are well defined and the eyelids, eyebrows, eyelashes, nails and hair are formed. The reproductive organs and genitalia are now fully developed and the doctor can identify if the baby is a boy or girl using an ultrasound.
2. Baby continues to mature and develop reserve body fat. Hearing is fully developed.
3. The mother may begin to feel the baby move. Hair begins to grow on the head.
4. Facial features continue to develop and tiny buds that will become arms and legs are being formed. The neural tube is formed along with the digestive tract and sensory organs beginning to develop. Heart beat can usually be detected.
5. Baby's arms, feet, fingers, hands and toes are fully formed. The circulatory and digestive systems are working and the liver is producing bile.
6. Lungs are nearly fully developed. Reflexes are coordinated so the baby can blink, close the eyes, turn the head, grasp firmly, and respond to sounds, light and touch. Baby positions itself to prepare for labor and delivery.
7. Baby's skin is reddish in color, wrinkled and veins are visible through translucent skin. Eyes begin to open. Baby responds to sound.
8. As the fertilized egg grows, the amniotic sac forms around it. The placenta also develops. A primitive face is forming and the baby is about the size of a grain of rice.
9. Brain is developing rapidly and can see and hear. Internal systems are well developed but lungs may still be immature.
