Enlightenment (Logic/reason) changed the lives of many people. Knowledge was pursued during the scientific revolution and also played a role in the American revolution. Enlightened thinkers were prohibited to study anything related to the occult or space as it opposed the beliefs of Christianity and their secular systems. From there, Self governing challenged the doctrine of the church and that created a tension between the rulers and the colonists.
