It was home of the ancient Roman Empire. Great works surrounded and inspired the Italian artists and writers.
Explanation:
Italy became the birthplace of the Renaissance movement mostly because it was the land on which the Roman Empire existed. The Romans left loads of works of their own, as well as lot of literature. Apart from the Roman one, there was also a great deal of Greek literature as well that was preserved in Italy. This prompted the interest of numerous artists and writers to revive the values of these two ancient civilizations as they seemed much better and more advanced than the current one. As more and more artists and writers were getting engaged into this, the Renaissance was developing, and gradually it overcame the church and changed the European societies, getting them back on track with their development.
