If given the option, I would rather live in the city-state of Athens.
Explanation:
Both, Athens and Sparta were city-states in Ancient Greece. Both had an Assembly whose members were elected by the local people. However, that is were the similarities ended.
In Sparta, the assembly was answerable to the King, who could be ruthless. It was known as a simple, agriculture based society with very strong and powerful warriors.
Athens, which was only a couple of hundred miles away, did not have a king. Instead, the assembly was answerable to archons, who themselves, were also elected by the population.
In such a way Athens was more a more democratic society where people had more freedoms. Hence, the city-state was known was a liberal bastion, with education, arts, and creativity being their hall-marks.
Therefore, If I was given a choice, I would rather live in Athens.
