Investigation, and agents invested considerable time and energy into pursuing some of the most notorious gangsters of
the era. All of these exploits were thoroughly described on radio and in local newspapers. In a relatively short period of
time, some of the bureau's agents (as well as some ruthless criminals) rose to the level of folk heroes and celebrities.
