Andrew Jackson was the seventh president of the United States of America from 1829 to 1837, seeking to act as the direct representative of the common man. Born in poverty, Andrew Jackson (1767-1845) had become a wealthy Tennessee lawyer and rising young politician by 1812 when war broke out between the United States and Britain. Andrew Jackson rose to fame while he was a young man and was a rising young politician by 1812 (As said above) He became famous while he was a major general in the War of 1812, Jackson became a national hero when he defeated the British at New Orleans. In 1824 some state political factions rallied around Jackson; by 1828 enough had joined “Old Hickory” to win numerous state elections and control of the Federal administration in Washington. Andrew Jackson (March 15, 1767 – June 8, 1845) was an American lawyer, soldier, and statesman who served as the seventh president of the United States from 1829 to 1837. Before being elected to the presidency, Jackson gained fame as a general in the United States Army and served in both houses of the U.S. Congress.
