How are imperialism and nationalism exact opposite?

Nationalism is an extreme form of patriotism. Imperialism is the belief that a country should expand its power through the military. They are opposite because people who believe in nationalism don't think they need any more power.

Oil affected Texas socially because it gave poor people the opportunity to work. Since there was such a large amount of oil being produced, more people could easily find jobs. Many people became wildcatters during the time. Wildcatters are people who drill for oil in oil wells.
