The Anti-Federalists wanted to ensure the Bill of Rights was included in the Constitution.
Explanation:
Anti-federalism was a political movement in the United States that advocated for the confederal structure of the country and against the 1787 Constitution. The previous constitutional document, known as the Confederation Articles, provided states with more autonomy. Anti-federalists believed that after the adoption of the Constitution and the approval of a centralized government, state rights and individual rights would be violated, and the president would receive power comparable to the tyrannical power of the British king before the Revolutionary War. The initiator of the movement was a politician from Virginia, Patrick Henry.
In many states, a stubborn struggle unfolded against ratification of the Constitution. In Massachusetts, a compromise was reached between supporters and opponents of the Constitution - the convention decided to ratify the Constitution with a recommendation to also adopt the Bill of Rights. Other states made a similar recommendation. The states of North Carolina and Rhode Island ratified the Constitution already after its implementation by the Continental Congress and the beginning of the work of the federal authorities. After ratification of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, the Anti-Federalist movement began to decline.
