how did the battle of stamford bridge change england?

Harold's exhausted army were forced to march back down to the south coast of england to face the normans. with supplies and manpower badly depleted by the clash at stamford bridge, the english army were crushed by the french invaders at the battle of hastings, on 14 october 1066.
