History
Many early Christians were imprisoned by Roman
authorities. They were condemned to die for being a Christian. This is an
excerpt from the diary one young mother kept while in prison:
“In my anxiety I spoke to my mother about (my) child, I tried to comfort my
brother, and I gave the child in their charge (care). I was in pain because I
saw them suffering out of pity for me. ... Then I got permission for my baby
to stay with me in prison. At once I recovered my health, relieved as I was
of my worry and anxiety over the child."

My impression on Lyndon Johnson is that he was very intelligent and productive. He was one of the only four people who have served in all four federal elected positions, was a high school teacher and congressional aid before winning the election to the House of Representatives (1937). He was known for pushing powerful politicians to advance legislation and this tactic of his even had it's own nickname: "The Johnson Treatment". He was extremely popular at the time and for good reason.
