Need answer asap were the effects of the signing of the emancipation proclamation? the north became even more determined to end slavery. union troops had a greater reason to fight the confederates. the proclamation laid the groundwork for future civil rights laws. the southern states were finally able to secede from the us. the confederacy decided to end slavery to focus more on the war.
