they  wanned to  remain neutral but at the  end they would have join the war because Germany sank many American merchant ships around the British Isles .

The world would be better because thanks to the intervention of the United States the war ended earlier and it was also beneficial not only for the United States but also for the rest of the countries that were fighting, many organizations were also founded to prevent another war.
