The first role that a president has is Chief of State. This role requires the president to be an aspiring example for the American people. In some nations, the chief of state is a king or a queen. He or she must stand with pride and stand for the highest values and ideals of the country.
The second role is Chief Executive. This role is that of the “boss” for millions of government workers in the Executive Branch. He or she must decide how the laws of the United States are to be enforced and chooses official and advisors to help run the Executive Branch. Some responsabilities include appointing the head of the CIA, Holding meetings to discuss government business, and Reading reports about problems of the FBI.
The third role is Chief Diplomat. The president must decide what American diplomats and ambassadors shall say to foreign governments. This is done with the help of advisors, the President makes the foreign policy of the United States.
The fourth role is Commander in Chief. The president is in charge of the US Armed forces. This includes the Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, of course the Marine Corps. He decides where the troops shall be stationed, where ships shall be sent, and how weapons shall be used.
