The Warren Court was infamously liberal during a fairly conservative time in history. The Court made decisions in favor of civil rights, desegregation, and prayer in school. For women--Griswold v. Connecticut supported the right of a woman to seek birth control without a husband's permission and/or consent. 

Women became part of the National Woman's Party. They organized their own political party aimed at arguing for the rights and needs of women, which mainly argued for the passage of a Constitutional amendment that would guarantee universal female suffrage. The NWP, under the leadership of Alice Paul, aimed to hold Woodrow Wilson (and the party in power, more generally) responsible for passing an Equal Rights Amendment and guaranteeing female suffrage.
