However, the terms in the treaty were so harsh to Germany, such as the heavy reparation of £6.6 billion and the war guilt clause etc. Then, Germans were suffered from humiliation and Hitler rose for the sake of regaining Germany’s glory as well as because of the reason of hoping a new leader tackling social, economic and political instabilities triggered by WWI. The idea of totalitarianism cultivated in both Germany and Italy, namely Nazism and Fascism. Totalitarianism advocated expansion foreign policy and thus Germany and Italy started invading other countries. Moreover, there was an attempt at collective security including the League of Nations, the signing of treaties and the disarmament conferences after WWI for maintaining peace. Yet, all of them were ineffective and even triggered the ambition of Italy, Germany and Japan. Furthermore, the Appeasement Policy proposed by Chamberlain aimed at taking negotiation for easing the discontent and satisfying aggressors’ ambition and it simply just cultivated their ambition as a result. They increased their armaments and annexed countries and WWII eventually broke out when Germany invaded Poland in 1939.
