Atatürk's Reforms were a series of political, legal, religious, cultural, social, and economic policy changes to convert the Republic of Turkey into a modern nation. One of the most important reforms was to allow the citizens to participate in the election of their representatives by implementing a representative democracy. Another important reform has to do with women's rights. After the reforms women obtained political rights, which allowed them to have the same participation as men, civil rights, women had the same rights of men in case of divorce. The reforms also abolished polygamy.
