His work was to brilliant and exceptional at the time that it took 34 years for the rest of the scientific community to catch up to it. The short monograph, "Experiments with Plant Hybrids," this is how Mendel describes how plants traits were inherited. This has become one of the most lasting and powerful publications in the history of science.
