Before the reign of ottoman empire, the main trade routes toward the Asian Markets was being done through the Silk Roads.
When the ottoman conquered this area and impose the tax, the Europeans are banded together to find a sea route to enter the region without having to pay taxes because ottoman empire was too strong to be confronted during that time
