In 1910, Mexican revolutionaries who wanted to overthrow a dictator and establish new democratic reforms led massive uprisings all across the country. Many reforms were implemented. In 1928, the National Revolutionary Party was formed to continue to push for revolutionary reforms in Mexico. This is a party that initially brought stability to the country, but eventually created a monopoly of power, eventually took over the Congress and the executive power, and basically being a member of the PNR meant that you were almost guaranteed political victory. We can see here this is sort of a trend over time in history. Often when revolutionaries work for reforms, they'll be working for democratic reforms, but once they gain power, they are often unwilling to let it go. So we see the beginning of a creation of a one-party-state.
