The present borders of Africa are the old boundaries of European colonies. When European colonialists drew the borders of  their possessions, they didn´t take into account ethnic and cultural realities. Very often, large peoples or tribes with the same culture and language that inhabited a geographical region, suddenly found themselves separated by a formal line that was not natural. This is one of the factors of wars in postcolonial Africa.
