After World War 1, the United States decided to maintain a foreign policy of neutrality regarding European affairs. After so much destruction and casualties, the US focused inward, in the United States issues, and immigration was one of them. On May 19, 1921, the Emergency Immigration Act or Emergency Quota Act of 1921 tried to stop immigration to the US. Many Jews were leaving their places due to persecution. The Act took into consideration the US Census of 1910 to limit the number of immigrants from any country to 3% of the people that already lived in the US. This percentage was on a yearly basis.
