Many immigrants came to the Middle colonies seeking religious freedom is the correct answer.
Explanation:
William Penn was the founder of the Pennsylvania colony and also the first supporters of expressive freedom in American colonies. His colony was an example of how people of different religions and races could live together in peace and liberty. The principle he promoted was adopted in the First amendment of the US constitution. William Penn was a leading supporter of religious freedom. He was raised in London and was expelled from the Oxford university because he joined the Quakers. He freed the Quakers from jails of London and helped them to travel to America.
He founded the colony in English North America on 4th March 1684. British king Charles second gave him the royal charter for establishing the colony. Pennsylvania means Penn's woods and is the combination of Penn's surname with Latin word Sylvania. Penn himself drafted the charter for the colony and provided free press, trial by jury and religious freedom, the basic freedom like the freedom to worship and freedom of expression was also granted by him.
