1. Is the following an example of inductive reasoning, deductive reasoning, or neither inductive nor deductive reasoning? Explain. A. If 2x – 3 = 9, then 2x = 12.
If 2x = 12, then x = 6.
Therefore, if 2x – 3 = 9, then x = 6.
B. For the past 3 months Mandy has gone to the library on Tuesday. Ms. Walsh, the librarian, told Mr. Todd, her assistant, that Mandy would come to the library today because it was Tuesday.
C. If a number ends in a 6, then the number is divisible by 2. Therefore, the number 36 is divisible by 2.
