20S + 30L = 240

L = 2S (susan will make twice as many large wreaths as small wreaths)

substitute the 2S for L in the first equation:

20S + 30(2S) = 240

Multiply the 30 and the 2:

20S + 60S = 240

Add together:

80S = 240

therefore: S= 240/80 = 3

So that's 3 small wreaths. Plug 3 into the second equation:

L = 2(3) = 6

Susan makes 6 large wreaths
